This 173 arrived in pieces,
wrapped in newspaper and saturated with the small of Garlic!!
The whole guitar seemed to be covered with an oily film.
I can only imagine that it had been hanging on a kitchen
wall somewhere.
It took a week to strip it, clean it and inspect it.

The restoration that
followed was comprehensive but the resulting guitar turned
out to make a
superb Blues machine.
The 513 pickups
were perfectly matched for volume so the tonal possibilities
were great. I
might look for another of these one day ....
without the Garlic! |
