#037 2003 Gibson ES 175. STEVE HOWE.
The STEVE HOWE model is
a replica of Steve's famous ES 175 from his YES days.
It has his trademark oversize selector switch knob, the
original apparently carved by him from a spare volume
control knob. The whole guitar is finished
in Triburst with an overlay of Antique Natural to give it
that aged look. Consequently all the
binding and even the headstock logo and crown motif look
golden with age.
This guitar has an
interesting history. It was signed by
Steve Howe and presented by Gibson to one of their endorsees
at a Gibson VIP and Music Industry Award concert.
On stage that night it was played briefly by Jimmy Vivino
after which was it returned to its case until I acquired it
2 years later. This was a really
nice guitar to play but very bright sounding and I have
always been searching for that sweet, sweet tone.
