Guild's CE-100 was the
first archtop to sport a florentine cutaway! |

Franz P90s can be
variable. This one is sweet and mellow.
Just right for its age. |

This is an amazing
guitar - a time warp back to the late 50's.
When the T-100 Slim
Jim was the Campus guitar, the CE-100 was for the
serious player. Like the T models,
it also benefitted from the smaller body, shorter scale
length and lightweight construction but there was a bit more
quality in the spec. Full binding, bar position
markers and a sweeter pickup distinguished the CE model (and
the similar CA acoustic version) as a jazz guitar.
Mine is all original and
correct and plays really nicely. It has superb
mellow tone through its Franz single coil pickup.
Hoboken made Guilds were all finished in a very thin
cellulose which over the years has the tendency to flake.
This one is very good by comparison but it does show one or
two areas where tiny flakes of the finish have simply fallen
away. This is exactly what you would
expect to see on a guitar of this era.
There are also a few blemishes and
marks from its long history although, amazingly, there
is almost no sign of play-wear on this lovely, historic
guild. I would say its condition is
8.5 or better.
Complete with its original
case. Quite a find!
